Lying compounded poor planning in Iraq

Blunders in Iraq? The Knight Ridder Newspapers series sets them out in stark detail. In today's second segment, we learn that the U.S. government is at least consistent – it made and broke almost all of its promises to American Indians when immigrants took over their country and we did exactly the same with Iraqi soldiers. The United States promised them that when war came if they put down their weapons and did not fight for Saddam Hssein they could keep their jobs in the army. Of course the first thing American overseer L. Paul Bremer did was to disband the Iraqi army, thus not only turning the United States into a liar, but also complicating its task of securing the country. The story just gets better from there. Please read it and go back to Day One , if you missed it.
