Issue 1 and Caboose Boy Bob

Ohioblog's friend Dick Feagler (I'm having difficulty creating a link and will add it later, if possible) has lost it. He thinks Gov. Bob Taft should be placed on the ``short list of good guys'' because he jumped on the caboose of intelligent political response to Issue 1, which would ban gay marriage and any kind of relationship other than heterosexual marriage in Ohio. If Taft were a good guy, he would have been first to step up. Instead, it was Ohio Attorney General Jim Petro. So while it's nice to have Taft aboard, let's not not get carried away. Issue 1 will be opposed by most responsible politicians and by the state's newspapers. The Enquirer in Cincinnati came out on Sunday against the ban that is already prohibited by law. Ohioblog doesn't expect the views of the pols or the papers to matter. Ohioans will approve Issue 1 and put up another roadblock to good relations between people of all stripes and businesses that would hire gays to do their work and treat them as they treat all their employees - as equals.
