  • Ohioblog: A Swing State Journal

In Ohio and other swing states, the verdict is still out

Ohioans from Akron to Columbus to Dayton to Cincinnati were neither moved enough by the rhethoric of President Bush and Democrat John Kerry to change their minds about their choice for president - nor, in some cases, to even make a choice.

Although it is difficult to detect much that we haven't heard at this stage of a too long campaign, this was a serious debate in which the candidates successfully reiterated their positions and even differentiated themselves in such a way that there is an increasingly clear choice between two men who agree the war in Iraq must be finished.

Ohio remains a swing state in play. So Ohioans are likely to return to the TVs for the Oct. 8 town-hall-forum-style debate, another
    chance
to cheer their man or to ponder whom their man should be.
