    In Oh-flor-i-da-io, it's back to Reading 101

Charges of voter fraud are flying in Ohio before the election as they did in Florida post-election 2000. U.S. Rep. Bob Ney, R-St. Clairsville, has ``guaranteed'' there will be congressional hearings after the election on what he called widespread reports of voter fraud in Ohio and elsewhere.

Ohioblog friend Greg Korte at the Cincinnati Enquirer lists a number of voter-registraion problems around the state, including in Summit County, where the workers have been overwhelmed with new registrants.

Ohioans have been taken advantage of in cases such as the one detailed by Stephen Dyer in the Akron Beacon Journal. Nicole Jones, 19, tells Dyer she was duped into signing a petition to put a ban against same-sex marriage by a circulator who told her it was a petition to boost college scholarships.

We all make this mistake at one time or another, but one knack Ohioans can can pick up, even those without enough money for college, is to read what you sign before you sign it. Such a precaution goes a long way to reducing tomfoolery, if not fraud.
