    Creaky connections

John Kerry carries a buckeye in his pocket in hopes it will bring him luck in Ohio and beyond. President Bush has even deeper connections to this swing state so crucial to both men in the presidential election. Bush's great grandfather lived on Roxbury Road in Columbus, served as president of Buckeye Steel Castings Co. from 1905 to 1927 and helped to found the Scioto Country Club. Brendon Cull, a Democratic spokeman in Ohio, is not impressed. He told the Cincinnati Enquirer's Carl Weiser, ``Geroge Bush can talk about his camily connections to Ohio all he wants. But he's obviously forgotten his roots then, because for the last four years he's done absolutely nothing to improve the economy or add jobs in this state.'' During those four years, his great grandfather's former company filed for bankruptcy, emerging as Columbus Steel Castings. Sounds like business in Ohio.
