These people make the news sing

Sometimes we take for granted in Northeast Ohio how fortunate we are to have a National Public Radio affiliate as professional as 89.7 WKSU-FM.

Even if we pledge our dollars, we don't say thank you often enough to the staff that makes WKSU the best radio station in Ohio. Kevin Neidermier is helping you and Ohioblog keep up with the Republicans at their national convention in New York City. Mark Urycki did the same when the Democrats met in Boston last month.

Akron Life & Leisure magazine put the WKSU crew, including the station's news director, Vincent Duffy, on its cover recently. No media members have ever deserved the recognition more.

And in the end, perhaps the best thing about WKSU is not the superlative special event coverage or big-bang serieses that it continually pulls off but the day-in and day-out coverage that illuminates Northeast Ohio and helps the rest of us make sense of what is going on.
