Blogging isn't just for us old, wornout guys. The Dayton Daily News sent 11-year-old Caroline Beauregard Shinkle to the Republican National Convention (how come the kid got to go and I had to stay here and keep on eye on the state?) and she has some interesting observations to offer. Here are a few:
- Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell is ``really tall!'' and ``very popular at the convention.''
- Youngstown Mayor George McKelvey, the Democrat who is supporting President Bush, ``gave a great speech at an Ohio Delegation breakfast.'' (The kid has a future in journalism. She already knows how to work the free-meal circuit.)
- ``In a speech to the Ohio delegation after dinner Monday, Ohio Gov. Bob Taft said `Ohio Rocks.' (The hip guv should know.)
- ``I loved talking to Howard Fineman. He is a political reporter who I like to watch on television. I see him a lot on the show Hardball (on MSNBC) that is hosted by Chris Matthews. I think he is really fair in his reporting and he gets right to the point of the issue! It was so exciting to meet him. He told me that the convention `is a way to travel the country in one room. Everyone is here.''
They are now that the Daily News was smart enough to send Caroline. Check her out.
