President Bush is a one smart cookie. Although the Commission on
Presidential Debates has scheduled three meetings between President George Bush and Sen. John Kerry
between Sept. 30 and Oct. 13, the Bush campaign, with a phalanx of negotiators, has decided two debates will
Smart political move. An incumbent who believes he is ahead in the presidential race should limit his
possibilites of damage. If Bush could, he wouldn't debate Kerry at all. He would let us decide on the basis of 527-group ads.
