    J. Kenneth cannot be distracted!

Here's encouraging news: John Kieseetter of The (Cincinnati) Enquirer caught up with Ohio Secretary of State J. Kenneth Blackwell following a Blackwell speech at the West Chester Chamber Alliance. Kiesewetter solicited the secretary's opinion regarding the Hamilton County Republican Party's problems with prosecutor Mike Allen (admitted affair with longtime staffer) and the write-in free-for-all that has drawn
in Ohio Treasurer Joe Deters, a man with his own political troubles. Blackwell, a former Cincinnati City Council memeber and mayor, adroitly dodged the issue and got to a bigger one: ``There are 88 counties in Ohio, and 68 use punch cards – and I've got to make sure we don't suffer the embarrassment of Florida in 2000.''

    J. Kenneth is on the case, butterfly (ballot) net in hand.
